Apprentice Marine Mammal Trainer 

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is looking for a motivated candidate to be hired on as an Apprentice Marine Mammal Trainer. An Apprentice Marine Mammal Trainer participates in, and is aware of all aspects of the training department.  This includes maintaining all training department protocols, adhering to company policies and fulfilling daily responsibilities concerning the care and training of the Marine Mammals. Candidates must be comfortable in a fast paced environment within a large team. Gulfarium is located in the Florida Panhandle overlooking the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.  
Essential Responsibilities
• Accurate and complete record keeping procedures
• Food preparation procedures
• Daily maintenance and development of exhibits
• Complete area related husbandry (cleaning) procedures
• Collection of approved medical samples
• Assist with veterinary procedures
• Administer vitamins and prescribed medications assigned by management
• Develop skills necessary for all animal and guest program interactions
• Develop skills necessary public narrations and shows
• Effective communication between all staff, interns, and volunteers
• Demonstrate ability to maintain and troubleshoot animal behavior regularly
• Develop animal training skills through approved opportunities assigned by management
• The ability to demonstrate basic operant conditioning skills 
• Other duties as assigned
Requested Requirements
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to work varied shifts/weekends/holidays
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3 months experience working with marine mammals
• Open Water SCUBA certification
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Excellent public speaking skills
• Good swimming ability
